Mobilizations with Movement: a new approach

It is stating the obvious that many different manual therapy concepts and procedures are taught, and all have a place in the treatment of patients. However, all the techniques in the Mulligan Concept, when indicated, are expected to bring about an immediate improvement in the patient's condition. This is important in manual therapy, as endless perseverance with no lasting benefit to the patient cannot be justified.

This new approach has been found to be able to restore functional movements in joints (often in one treatment session), even after many years of restriction, which questions the text books that speak of adaptive shortening. Spectacular results are often obtained using mobilizations with movement (MWMS). *

    Educational Materials
The Mulligan Concept techniques are described thoroughly in the 5th edition of the book Manual Therapy - "NAGS", "SNAGS", "MWMS" etc.

    Also available are three videos:

    Courses
The Mulligan Concept Teachers Association is the international organization set up to accredit teachers and ensure a high educational standard for courses. The MCTA works to provide high quality instruction to meet the huge demand from therapists wishing to learn the techniques. Lab courses with hands-on instruction of the Mulligan Concept manual therapy techniques are scheduled by Northeast Seminars in the USA.
Customized inservices can also be arranged.
